Understand what your browser keeps
Reading an article and drafting a letter should not require a marketing profile. Here is how the journal's page features use your browser.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small records stored by a browser for a website. LocalStorage is a separate browser-storage mechanism that can retain preferences between visits. Both can be used for necessary functions or, in other contexts, for optional measurement and advertising.
The journal's own article and tool code does not set cookies, use analytics, include advertising trackers or save letter entries in localStorage. There are no embedded third-party videos, social widgets or remotely loaded fonts in the page templates.
Consent preferences
Where a site-level consent control is displayed, use its options to accept optional technologies or choose Essential Only. A stored consent preference is used to remember that choice; it is not the content of your letter. Optional technologies requiring consent should remain inactive unless you accept them.
You can remove site cookies and local storage through your browser's site-data settings. Removing a saved consent choice may cause the consent control to appear again. Browser privacy settings can also block storage, although some preference-saving features may then be unavailable.
Letter preview, copy and download
The contact tool holds its draft in page memory. It does not intentionally preserve the draft after the page is closed or reloaded. Your browser's own autofill, history or session-restoration features are controlled separately by your browser settings.
Choosing Copy letter requests clipboard access through the browser. Your device may keep clipboard history independently of this website. Choosing Download .txt creates a local file that remains until you remove it. Neither action sends the letter to the journal.
Technical delivery and external links
Website delivery and security infrastructure may handle technical request data as explained in our privacy notice. Request logs are not the same thing as browser cookies. Following an external reference takes you to another website, whose storage practices and privacy notice apply there.
