Read thoughtfully, act with qualified advice
This is an editorial resource for understanding decisions, not a substitute for examining a watch or agreeing a professional scope of work.
Publisher and scope
This website is published by Pavilionvaultbamboo Horology Media Ltd, registered office: 27 Frederick Street, Birmingham, B1 3HH, UK, company no. 15681294. Questions about these terms may be sent to [email protected].
The site provides general educational material about mechanical watch preservation. We do not offer repairs, appointments, valuations, authentication, certification or manufacturer-authorised services. We are independent and not affiliated with watch manufacturers.
Not instructions for specialist work
Articles explain principles and questions for discussion. They are not complete repair procedures or safety instructions. Watch mechanisms, fragile finishes and historic luminous materials can require specialist equipment and expertise. Do not dismantle or alter an object solely on the basis of this site.
No article can establish the condition, originality, water resistance, safety or value of a particular watch. Consult an appropriately qualified practitioner and the relevant current technical information before taking action. A reference to a standard is not a claim that a watch, workshop or article has been certified under it.
Accuracy and external sources
We aim to write clearly and responsibly, but material may contain errors or become outdated. Specifications, service policies and external websites can change. We may revise content without preserving every previous version. Please report a suspected error with a supporting source.
External links are provided for further investigation. We do not control their content or availability, and a link is not an endorsement or commercial affiliation. Brand names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Using the material
You may read, link to and print reasonable portions for personal, non-commercial reference. Copyright and other rights remain with the publisher or relevant rights holder. Statutory exceptions, including applicable quotation rights, are unaffected. Obtain permission before substantial republication, commercial redistribution or use implying our endorsement.
Do not misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or use contact details to send unlawful, abusive or unsolicited promotional material.
Letter tool and correspondence
The letter tool creates a preview locally and offers clipboard copying and text-file downloading. It does not send messages or create a service contract. Review the output before using it. Browser permissions may affect availability. You are responsible for any information you choose to send through your own email application.
Sending a question does not guarantee a reply or create a professional advisory relationship. Do not send watches, components or hazardous materials to the registered office. Personal information is handled as described in our privacy notice.
Liability and legal rights
To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for losses arising from reliance on general editorial information, interrupted availability or third-party content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory protections applicable where you live. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear disputes; these terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights to bring proceedings elsewhere. Updated terms will be posted on this page.
